Red-Blacked Voles:
Many forest trees rely on mycorrhizal fungi to help them grow. Red-Backed Voles are one of the few animals that eat these fungi and are important to their dispersal.
Sea Otter:
Their importance is in shaping this near-shore marine ecosystem. The Sea Otter was near extinction, and during this period the Sea Urchin proliferated to unhealthy numbers. With the Sea Otter present, the kelp forest and rocky-reef communities they inhabit flourish.
