Humpback Whales
There are estimated to be 689 different humpback whales, and there are many reasons for the low population of these whales. The humpback whales are becoming scares because during the 18th century there was high demands on whale products. People would kill them and use these innocent creatures for their skin and meat. Now that this has been resolved, what is killing these whales are the high demands for oil and this causes for people to transport a lot of products on boat. This causes for the water to become polluted and the whales habitats to be destroyed. Also there is something known as noise pollution. Acoustic sounds coming from ships and other man-made vessels, interfere with whale navigation and mating. Noise pollution in the oceans have shrunken the acoustic bubble of whales, thus decreasing the miles in which they can hear other whales and then missing out on opportunities to mate with each other. Global warming is also a factor, as the oceans get warmer, the whales main source of food which mostly consist of krill, are dying off. Also, since whales tend to linger closer to shore and tend to move slowly, increased boating and vessel traffic can often injure or kill whales, tearing their skin with boat props.
